Because Only Together We Can

Empowering Communities. Advancing Justice. Transforming Lives.

At Ubuntu Empowerment and Justice for All Initiative, we champion human rights, social justice, gender equality, and community empowerment. Guided by the spirit of Ubuntu, we support vulnerable groups, uplift youth and women, strengthen community systems, and promote equal opportunities through advocacy, education, and sustainable development programs.

Our Mission

To empower marginalized communities and advance justice for all in Rwanda by championing sexual and reproductive rights, promoting inclusive social change through arts, music, and sports, combating gender-based violence through prevention and legal support, fostering economic opportunities for the underserved, and protecting the environment for sustainable livelihoods. This mission guides us in Bugesera District (Eastern Province) and beyond, as we work nationally, regionally, and internationally with partners to uplift young single mothers, adolescents, gender minorities, refugees, and persons with psychosocial disabilities.

Our Vision

Our vision is a just, equitable, and sustainable society where all people – especially vulnerable youth, women, and marginalized groups – live free from violence, discrimination, and poverty, empowered to realize their full potential in a healthy environment. We envision communities in Rwanda (and across our region) where human rights and dignity are upheld for everyone, opportunities are accessible to the underserved, and environmental stewardship secures a resilient future for the next generations.

Our Vision

Our work is guided by core values that shape our culture and impact. Ubuntu inspires us to act with solidarity, compassion, and collective responsibility. We promote equity and inclusion, ensuring equal access to opportunities for all, especially vulnerable groups. Through empowerment, we build skills, confidence, and agency so communities can lead their own development. We uphold justice and accountability, defending human rights and maintaining transparency in all operations. Collaboration drives our approach as we partner with communities, leaders, government, and global allies to achieve shared goals. We value innovation and learning, adapting creative, evidence-based solutions and continuously improving our programs. Finally, we commit to sustainability, supporting long-term community ownership and integrating environmental responsibility into every initiative.

What We Do

At Ubuntu Empowerment and Justice for All Initiative, we implement programs that empower communities, promote justice, and foster sustainable development across Rwanda. Our work is focused on three interconnected pillars: Justice, Empowerment, and Environment.

— Justice for All

We advance social and legal justice, with a focus on gender equality and sexual and reproductive rights. Our programs provide legal aid, psychosocial support, and advocacy, ensuring survivors of gender-based violence and marginalized groups are protected, informed, and supported.

— Empowerment & Inclusion

We strengthen communities through youth engagement, arts, sports, and economic empowerment initiatives. Our programs help women, youth, and refugees gain skills in vocational training, entrepreneurship, and life skills, building confidence, independence, and social inclusion.

Environmental Sustainability

We promote biodiversity conservation, climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, and clean energy solutions. Our initiatives equip communities to adapt to climate change, restore ecosystems, and develop green livelihoods, ensuring a healthier, sustainable future for generations.

— Awareness & Education

We run community workshops, campaigns, and training sessions to increase knowledge on human rights, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, and environmental stewardship, creating informed citizens who can advocate for themselves and their communities.

— Partnerships & Collaboration

We work closely with local authorities, government agencies, NGOs, and international partners to amplify impact. Collaborative approaches allow us to scale programs, share best practices, and ensure our interventions are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and sustainable.
